I’ve done three rounds of chemo. Had mask fitted and was supposed to have chemo and radiotherapy yesterday. Kidneys not doing well so couldn’t have chemo but had 1st session of radiotherapy. Woke up in the night with my mouth dry and feeling nauseous. I thought side effects started later maybe week 2. Has anyone else experienced symptoms immediately. My tongue was stuck to roof of my mouth. Would appreciate advice. By the way with such anxiety with chemo I’ve been prescribed sedatives on the next two sessions coming up when kidneys are better
We are all different. Most of us escape side effects for a little time. My submandibular salivary glands swelled up after one shot. I looked like a hamster.
Perhaps you just slept with your mouth open.
Dint worry about the chemo. It’s belt and braces. It’s the RT that does the job.
I didn’t have chemo. Just RT.

Hi Don’t stress too much about the chemo radiotherapy is the course of treatment I had the first 2 of my planned 3 but jointly with oncologist decided against the 3 rd.
As for tongue sticking in first week mine did quite early on i likened it to Velcro being ripped off the roof of my mouth.I soon learnt on wakening I gently broke the seal of-my stuck lips whilst lying in bed with water then proceed to take a tiny sip of water to release my tongue. It’s surprising How we learn to adapt. I still use xyimelts at night as dry mouth is still around.

Hi there , can you please advice what kind of vitamins/ supplements I can have.
bough turmeric- and found out that it is not good with chemo
thank you
Hold off with any antioxidants. Both chemo and RT are oxidative processes so you don’t want anything interfering with that. I didn’t take anything at all. I figured that my total food replacement drinks had it all and when I started eating I tried to keep my diet as balanced as possible.

Hi Has Dani had said avoid them. I too avoided shellfish snd soft cheeses on my dietician advise. I tried to eat a sensible balanced diet as long as my mouth allowed. Then ivwas fitted with n g tube and all
my nutrients came from that.
