Hello, I have just finished my 3rd week of 6 weeks treatment for tonsil, tongue and lymph node SCC. The treatment is radiotherapy and chemotherapy. Increasingly I am having severe nausea after my chemotherapy. I am taking cyclazine and ondanestron. These worked quite well after the first two weeks, but it is lot worse this week. I may even bringing up the sickness medication - I'm not sure. Any advice most welcome. Thanks Chris
Hi chris. I was very very nauseous for weeks. I just kept asking for more anti sickness and they did sort for me. Ask your team for more help. I know it’s grim but they will get it under control for you. There are lots of meds to try. I guess some of us just feel more sick than others! I even felt sick for several weeks after treatment finished but it was all bought under control. I am 15 weeks or so post now and all fine. Hang in there.

Hi Chris , Welcome to our group sorry you’ve found yourself here.
Please see your team on Monday ,there’s lots of other anti sickness meds they can try. I know one lady who had 8 different ones before she found one that settles her nausea. It is hard but remember our cancers do have an excellent response to treatment .Hope you get sorted.
If you can still manage to eat , try a ginger biscuit they can settle some of the nausea ,that tip was given to me by a chemo nurse.

I have just had week 2 of chemo and they gave me a syringe driver with the anti sickness medication in it. The first treatment I ended up in hospital with dehydration from being sick. The driver has really worked though it’s a pain to carry around and I can’t have a bath. At least I’m not being sick.
Thanks, Well, I am currently in hospital with dehydration. Hopefully being discharged shortly. They have tweaked my medication and rehydrated me. I'm feeling a lot better Treatment back on track. Thanks for all your helpful advice. Chris
Thank heavens they have you sorted. What anti emetic are you on now?

Hi Hazel, What seemed to help was changing my antiemetic from tablets to liquids. I am taking cyclizine and odansetron. They also changed my other pain medication from Zaipan to morphine syrup. I have to keep myself my hydrated and make sure eat/drink after the antiemetic has started to work. They did give me something else via an injection but was to gaga to remember what. Glad for the weekend and 4 weeks down out of 6. Thanks Chris

Hi Chris,
I was hospitalised twice during my treatment because of severe vomiting and dehydration so I feel your pain. As others have said keep on to your medical team and they will try different antisickness meds in different combinations. I ended up on Metroclopramide and Ondansatron which seemed to work for me. Keep your chin up and tell yourself you're two thirds of the way through!!
Hope you feel better soon
