What do you think about distraction?

I'm sure that's very true.

I think it can be easy to forget the support people can find from simply reading about other people having similar experiences.

Peer support is invaluable and there are a few charities that are very good at this, Macmillan and Swalliows in particular. We can’t expect the NHS to provide this to any significant extent. What clinics should be doing is signposting patients to these charities.
