My consultation with the oncologist, to receive my PET/CT Scan results, today at 12 noon, was disappointingly cancelled due to “unforeseeable circumstances” at 2pm yesterday. I did explain to the secretary that I am on “tenterhooks” waiting to know the results and she did say she would get someone to call me back. I can understand that things do happen unexpectedly but it does not help my anxiety. My Macmillan nurse did call later but she did not know the results but she would try and find out and gain approval to divulge anything of significance.
So, I may have to wait a few more weeks

5 minutes after posting the above, my Macmillan Nurse called to say that she had spoken with the doctor and said that I had responded well to the treatment and that the scans show no indications of residual cancer.

Doesn’t matter. MRI used to be the gold standard. My hospital started PET only a few years ago. I had an MRI at 12 weeks which was clear and a PET a month later which was not and I gad to have a biopsy. I wish they’d stopped at the first scan. I’m watching The Swallows International Head and Neck Cancer conference at the moment and there was a really good lecture by a histopathologist who said that his department got a significant number of false PETs
