Hi everyone!
I wonder if those who have had throat RT can tell me when the mucus in the throat finally goes? I know everyone is different but I am 8 months post treatment and still suffering 24/7 with thin but annoying mucus which affects everything I do, including not getting a good night's sleep!
The docs and nurses said nothing to be done apart from drink water (which is purgatory) but it doesn't help. I just wondered if it was here forever or there was light at the end of the tunnel soon.
Thank you for any comments in advance. I know it seems like a minor problem, but to me it has become a nightmare!

BUCEPHALUS HERE SUSAN,You can try bowl of hot water with a towel over your head and use the steam to loosen it, remembering not to burn the vocal chords etc or see your GP who will prescribe a patch to either DRY up the mucus or make it easier to bring up.+ keep the room with an moist atmosphere
Hi! THanks for replying so quickly! I use a steam inhaler which makes me feel better but the mucus flows all day and night. Did you have the problem - if so - how long did it last?
Susan
Hi Susan,
I'm nearly 7 months post treatment and still almost choke on it at times. 5Nit sure if anyone else has it, but I get horrible thick balls of it between nose and throat. I use a nasal douche to clear it, gives me great relief for a week or so. You can get them from Amazon. More effective for me than steaming. I still steam a bit and use humidifier overnight.
Hope you get relief soon, it's hideous isn't it?

Thankfully mine isn't constant. Just a bit unpleasant for those around me. Its of superhuman strength!
Take care x
Hi Susan. We’ve talked about this before I think. Your problem I gather isn’t thick mucous that you can’t cough up or spit out but just thin mucous?
Could you try a decongestant at night. The sort you use for a cold ?
Maybe run that past your chemo team?

Hi yes I could. Am seeing consultant tomorrow.
I was hoping I would get some answers from folk on here who would say, "Oh yes, it peters out at about 10 months post treatment" to give me something to cling on to!
It's getting me up in the middle of the night, when I'm supposed to be getting as much rest as possible so it would be nice to know it might go soon!
