hi everyone. Just thought I would pop on here again for advice. I am experiencing some loss of smell as well as the usual taste problems. My tumour was at base of tongue. I also have some definite hearing loss. Just wondering if that’s to do with lymph bring bunged up as sometimes the hearing clears. Any one else got these things. Many thanks snd wishing you all well. Hi Lizzie hearing loss can be attributed to chemo (cisplatin) same with taste snd smell that often us radiotherapy. I was the other way my smell and taste was accentuated. Your hearing loss I would mention at next consultation I kniw a few who have ended up with earring aids.

Hi Hazel. Will the sense of smell improve for you think? Why has this happened, I had no radiotherapy to my nose
Hi Lizzie. Smell should improve. Smell and taste are intertwined and just as your taste changes so does smell. Hearing loss can be serious, do tell your team.

Hi Lizzie as Dani says it’s all intertwined ears nose throat. It will improve given time as things start to regenerate is easier way of explaining it. But your hearing loss needs bringing consultant s attention.

Hi Lizzie
I had complete hearing loss in my left ear after my maxillectomy. Apparently there was a build up of fluid and it was not draining away. I spoke to my surgeon and he put in a stent and that solved the problem.
There may be a different cause in your case but I hope it is something as simple. Definitely discuss with your medical team as I am sure they would have come across this before.

Thankyou Sophie. I feel it’s fluid related. Maybe lymph? I will tell my consultant next week. Lizzie
