Hello Again All.
Almost 13 weeks Post-RT
I have noticed a swelling on the front of my neck and it was mentioned in my video call with Macmillan support last week. I have been advised to use my Epimax cream and massage in a downward motion to help reduce/remove this. Does anyone else have any tips on exercises to help.
Another small progress to report is that I managed to gargle my Caphosol and Benzydamine mouthwashes today for the first time since RT - Onwards & Upwards

Hi Bob.
massaging towards functional lymph is the trick.
Slowly nodding was useful for me. Nice your head till your chin touches your chest back to an upright position then back. Do ten times when you remember. Looking over your shoulder left then right moves the lymph about too. Have a go

Hi Bob well done in the gargle it’s the little things. You can ask if your hospital have a lymphodema clinic ? I was lucky I didn’t have any issues with lymph glands.

Hi Bob,
I am also 13 weeks post radio and chemo (Tongue base Squar Cell Carc).
I have swelling at top front of neck also and massage with thumb and index finger in a circular mortion and move a bit each time upwards then downwards. When sat down, stretch the gullet by looking up and tilting head as far back as possible, do that about 5 times as often as you are sittiing down. My jaw is also tightening and the muscles feel weakened, most noticable when eating anything at all. I am nebulising more on advice from SALT and massaging jaw also.
Both seem to help so worth a try.
The lumps from my Nodes have gone thankfully, PET scan is next month 9th Nov with Onc meeting & result on 29th. Went into treatment with a 50% chance of cure as my tumour is inoperable but managable if not cured.
Hi Bob,
Yes, I have it a bit too. I stretch jaw, neck and shoulders and massage daily. It hasn't gone yet, but doing this keeps it in check. I notice if I miss a day. Hospital also told me not to sleep on side, but on back with head propped up.
Hope all else OK.
Take care, Ronnie
