That's just over 12 weeks since I finished my RT for Throat Cancer and I still do not feel back to anything like normal. I was advised that it would take some time but I never envisaged this period of recovery.
My throat is still quite sore but I have been somewhat successful with various foods - I managed scrambled egg + 1 rasher of bacon last week and yesterday I went through 4 Tesco Tempura Chicken Bites with a small portion of veg.
Still taking slow-release Oxycodone + ~3x OxyNorm during the day and Paracetamol 4 x 1000mg per day. Also loads of water due to the dry mouth. On that subject, my GP mad a mistake when I ordered more Cophosol dissolvable tablets they prescribed it as an A&B Pack of tubed liquid mixers. When I pointed this out to the pharmacy they said that it would be destroyed if I returned the incorrect item - I said that I would persevere with it rather than cause waste. GP was informed though and I suspect they have corrected the prescription.
I know that I am getting there, (very) slowly but surely, I just hope that it has all been worthwhile - PET/CT Scan due in the next couple of weeks and I see my oncologist on 2nd November.
Thanks again for all your support over the past few months
Bob
Hi Bob. Yes slowly slowly day by day. It took me a year before I was anything like normal. Your body has taken a real battering. You ARE doing ok. The Caphosol A/B is exactly the same after you’ve mixed it. The tablets are just easier.
Best of luck with the scan.
