Here we go again?

I got home from three weeks in Greece on Wednesday, had a chest x-ray yesterday and have just been called by a GP telling me they suspect malignancy on my chest (lung presumably?). Fast track referral to chest people and urgent CT scan to come, looks like I'm going in for round three; but I guess on the bright side it doesn't seem to be in my neck again so hopefully (if it is another cancer) there will be treatment options available. Anyway, will carry on with life as normal for now, done this enough to know that worrying isn't going to help.

Holiday was superb by the way, took my wife's ashes out and left her on her favourite spot on the beach, emotional but cathartic.

  • Crikey Mike that’s rubbish news. It’s amazing what can be done and I know you’ve always trusted your team. If they can’t fix you at least they can let you live with it for years. Some spectacular results have been possible. Lots of love  and hugs. Xx

  • hi Mike

Si sorry you’ve come back from holiday ti such news. They can do wonders as we all know.  Was there something g specific that made you go for a chest x Ray ? Just wondering for us in the future is it something we need to ask about. I know I ask for thyroid bloods every year. Everything x for you at least they are being quick.
pleased you got to scatter Debbies ashes in such a special  place to both of you. ( hope I got her name right )

  • Hi Mike

So pleased you enjoyed your holiday and could leave Debbie's ashes somewhere you both loved.

Hazel's question as to whether something prompted your chest xray was also going through my mind.

Everything crossed for you with the results.

  • Yes you did get her name right, thanks Hazel x

I had a routine check shortly before I left and the specialist nurse said she heard a bit of a crackle on my chest so I had an x-ray that same day which showed what they thought was probably an infection and some fluid on my lung so gave me anti-biotics, told me I was OK to go on holiday but to seek help if I felt bad while I was away (I didn't, still don't) but said they wanted another x-ray as soon as I got home, which obviously happened yesterday. Radiographer (or radiologist, I'm never sure) said my GP would have the results in a week so the fact that I got the call less than 24 hours later suggests some concern.

But I've done this twice, third time's a charm I believe (hope).
