Bucephalus here with another update.Took the advice of Beesuit and had the eyeholes cut out of the mask. What a great suggestion, immediately there was no anxiety or claustraphobia and no need for sedatives. The team played my music and I could watch the machine going round or look at the overhead picture in James Cook Radiotherapy department. The 12 minute treatment seemed to me like seconds.I naturally thought that the mask had to be like it was because of my treatment. It was only after Beesuits suggestion that I realised my cancer is in the voice box and engaging my second brain cell made it obvious that there was no reason not to have the eyeholes cut out but at that time it never entered my head..Now just had my seventh out of thirty treatments and so far no problems.Religously doing the neck and voice exercises given that should improve or maintain my swallowing function, plus the neck cream and mouthwashes supplied as well as gargling with soluble paracetamol to stop throat hopefully from getting too sore.Still eating normally.
Kind regards, take care and keep safe.Never give in no matter what, remember NO PAIN,NO GAIN and put your trust in your clinicians.

Hey, well done. Tick off that week and best foot forward. At least you know you’re not likely to get much interference with saliva. Your thyroid will get a trashing but worry about that when you’re done. Look forward to the next update xx
