Tomorrow, I will 5-weeks down the line from my last RT session, of 30, and, although slowly improving, I am still in quite a bit of discomfort with a very sore throat. Still on Oxycodone, Long and Short, for the pain and managing not too badly.
it feels like I am on a cycle of 3 days of improvement followed by 2 backward steps days. The improvements are progressing slowly but surely.
On the plus side, I had my first solid food this evening in about 3 months - 15% piece of breaded haddock slice with a few garden peas. I didn’t experience much in the way of flavour but it went down well.
Onward & Upwards,
Bob
Well done Bob. Yes the 2 steps forward one step back is a common theme. Stick with it you’ll get there in the end. Flavour and taste will slowly return fingers x

Hi Bob. Great to see you on here again. A piece of fish is a great achievement; more than I could manage at that stage. I was in pain killers if some sort til 12 weeks plus so nil desperandum. It does get better

Hi Bob,
Well done on the fish! My first meal was weetabix, so you put me to shame! Didn't start stepping down pain relief until after my first clinic, got myself eating more then steadily came down in same steps I went up over a few weeks. Try not to get disheartened when you feel you've gone backwards, it's frustrating but happens. 21 weeks post treatment now. Pub lunch yesterday, enjoying food a bit now. Not like before yet, but more things taste nice and mouth not as dry and wrinkled so textures better. You'll get there!
Take care, Ronnie
And? How did you manage?
You could update your blog with a photo of an empty bowl

Hi well done 70% is better than nothing. For a while we have to treat food as fuel . You’ll get there in the meantime just keep trying different things. I’d one day you can’t eat it try again a week or so later. Insides of custard tarts I used to enjoy. Poached eggs as well if you can eat them.
