Well, here we go again. My RIG feeding tube came out yesterday afternoon and the advice was to attend A&E.
Nobody on duty had been trained on the procedure so I am back in Princess Alexandra Unit Ward 32 at Ninewells, Dundee until they can replace.
The thing is that the advice leaflet states that a replacement should be done within 1-2 hours or it risks the stoma closing. This is what has happened to me, 21 hours after losing the feeding tube, the surgeon had to apply additional doses of local anaesthetic and to ‘prise’ away reformations already taking place internally.
Anyway, discharged now and home safe.
Hi Bob
Sorry to hear what had happened with your feeding tube. Glad to know you are back home and you have been sorted. I can imagine how distressing this has been.
Take care
Nicky
