It is now 17 months since I completed my radiotherapy and it has been rather a ride as all of you know who have had a major operation for oral cancer followed by 6 weeks of radiotherapy.
Dr. Peter Harvey’s essay on ‘After the Treatment Finishes – Then What?’ was recommended by Dani some time ago and I have found it so helpful.
He says in his essay amongst other really helpful information, ‘ I regard the point at which someone can look forward to and plan a holiday is key sign of recovery. It doesn't always happen quickly, and often not as quickly as people might like, but happen it does.’
I can verify this as I have just completed a 5 day trip to Kangaroo Island in South Australia and had the opportunity to try out my now finely tuned eating programme. Since my operation eating has been my biggest issue and the thought of leaving home and trying to cope with it was rather daunting. However over time I have tried a few very short holidays over weekends and have finally got things under control so I no longer worry about how I will manage.
I have added a couple of photos, one especially for Dani of me at a honey farm and another photo of me fulfilling one of my bucket list activities, quad biking.
For those of you just starting the journey I encourage you to take it one day at a time and it is amazing how far down the track you can come.
Best wishes to you all
Lyn
P.S. Dani, the honey was delicious.

Hey Lyn Thanks so much for the photos. I’m over the moon you got there. Can I use the honeybee? Everyone should read the essay and I throw it relentlessly at all the poor folk here in the community if they are feeling completely at sea in early recovery. Well done

Hello. I read this essay when I needed to study for my medical college exams. I really liked the presentation style. I came across something similar on this online resource https://www.nursingpaper.com/adn-writing-service/ in which I ordered an essay on medical topics. I think this information will be very useful for many people.
Lovely to hear you had a great time. Just over a year since I finished and we go on our 2nd holiday at the end of the week. Looking forward to family and pooch time.
Yes, that article is a godsend! They even quote it vack at me at work when I get frustrated!
Take care, Gill
Hey Gill, good to hear from you. I finally tracked down your blog (stupid I didn't think of looking in the obvious place) so I can show it to people facing treatment
