Discharged post-Radiotherapy

One week after completing 30 sessions of RT, I was discharged from hospital this afternoon (8 night in-patient).

Still very sore in the throat area - like broken glass or barbed wire - for which I’m taking Oxycodone slow release tablets, with a similar as an intermediary.

When preparing for the first overnight home feed, I discovered that we had been sent two different types of “Giving Sets”. As I am in bed I can’t check the set numbers but, if anyone on can advise, please let me know. I am on “Abbott’s Jevity 1.5”, 1.5 litre bottles but we have also had “Abbott’s 2 Kal”, 1 litre bottles delivered.

Sorry if I appear to be a bit of a moaner but your answers and support really are much appreciated.

Thank You All,
Bob

  • Hi Bob glad you are home at last. Just rest and recuperate now. As for the feeding tube I too was n g pump fed mine was always 1.5 litre bags at home. But from memory I was started off on 1 litre bags in the hospital. As for the giving sets mine was always the same maybe try one snd  if it fits use it ?  Sorry can’t be if more help. Are the fittings the same ? If so can’t see it making that much difference ? There maybe  a 2 4 hour help line  number if you need more help in your instruction pack.

  • Hi Bob

If I recall the Jevity has a screw cap that you simply screw into the bottle and it pierces the foil automatically. The 2 Cal I think you have to push in yourself. It will have a sharp pointed end.. However. If they both look the same then they are interchangeable. Sorry not much use by the morning. I suppose you've worked it out by now. Good luck and I hope you slept OK
