I completed my 30 sessions of RT on Friday 23-Jul-21. However, with regards to concerns about my weight loss and pain management, I was admitted to hospital on the 22nd for observation and the last RT session.
I have been using the Abbott Entral feeding system since Friday and I received training today, with my partner, on the operation for use at home.
The doctor has changed my pain medication to Oxycodon from noon today and we will see if it makes a difference.
Hi
well done on competition of treatment.
I had the n g enteral feeding tube fitted for my last 3 weeks and continued using in for a further 3 weeks. You need to maintain hydration and nutrition and am sure you feel soon start to feel the benefits. There’s no point in struggling as the next few weeks your treatment continues to work. Fingers x for change in pain relief as well. There’s light at the end of the tunnel promise.

Hi Bob
Glad to know you have finished your radiotherapy, and this part of your treatment is finished. We know how tough it is. Hope you get more comfortable soon with your pain relief. Hopefully now you will start gaining some weight. Well done and best wishes for your recovery.

Hi you will done, please be patient with yourself recovery takes months not days or weeks but you will get there please believe it is worth it best wishes
So pleased for you that the RT is over Bobby. You can look forward to healing now that is out of the way. As Lou says, the recovery is a long one but you’ve got the nitty gritty out of the way now. Eat loads of calories (custard, cream, reddy brek, cream, cream, blancmange, cream and more cream.) Bugger your arteries, you need to eat as many calories as you can for the next week or two mate! Oh, and if you’re on any sort of morphine start the laxatives!
Thanks Mark,
All good advice except for three things:
I found a sit-on scale while going for a wee this evening and it looks like I've gained a couple of kilos so far.
You’ve cracked the mechanics of it, you’ve got a couple of rotten weeks to come then gradually slowly you’ll be back in the world. Just hang on xx

Base of tongue cancer. T2N0M0 6 weeks Radiotherapy finished January 2019
Great news that your RT is completed. How does it feel knowing that you won’t have to run up the hospital every day!!
At least now you can take time to heal and get up when your body is ready.
All the best in your recovery. It isn’t easy at this point but better days are not far away so hang on to that thought.
Wishing you all the best
Michelle
