Sorry me again....husband is starting to panic now as his throat is still super sore for the tonsillectomy and tongue biopsy performed on the 15th July...his treatment is due to start on the 9th August his worried his throat is still to sore to start therapy....I can't advise him in this just wondered what everyone's experience was?

  • My throat never recovered fully between my tonsillectomy and my RT starting but this seems to be quite normal. A tonsillectomy is a big operation for an adult, much more so than for a child, and they can’t wait until it’s fully healed to start adjunctive therapy. Lots of us in here have been through the same and although it’s not easy it is manageable. Wishing him all the best.

  • 15th July to now is really quite early in the healing process.  About right for the healing process give or take a day or so.  It could be the scabs starting to detach where the tonsils were removed.  That is a painful period.  If in doubt ring the hospital.

The first 10 sessions are more and annoyance than painful it’s usually week 3 whrn the pain ramps up. He will get there we all do.
