Hi

After two neck dissections two courses of radiotherapy  my latest scan showed no sign of any cancer.

I am on immunotherapy treatment and the oncologist is very happy with the results.

I would like to encourage others to keep on fighting there is a light at the end of the tunnel.

I am aware it can come back but take your victories and make the most of it.

I still battle to eat ,have to have water at hand but that is a small price to pay.

Which brings me to the subject of sauces, the only sauce excluding gravy I can tolerate is Vegan Blue Cheese.

Any recommendations would be greatly be appreciated.

Stay strong

  • Hi Michael. That is such uplifting news.
Sauces. I found mayonnaise strangely successful in lubricating a lot of food. Adding cream to food also helped me. Food that slides down easily is worth trying too. Poached eggs, tinned peaches, fresh bananas melon and mango? As far as meat goes a rare steak or some fatty well cooked lamb or pork belly.
I’m sure others have lots of suggestions

  • Hi Michael,

Glad to hear latest scan looking good.

Sauces is a mission I am on at the moment. Fed up of cream or cheese ssuces. Have a look on GIRD recipes, their low acid needs are similar to ours. I found a carrot, turnip, corgette and beetroot one that is a replacement for a tomato pasta sauce. Basically chop up, toss in olive oil, cover in foil and bake until soft. Add Italian herbs and blitz until smooth. Not  as good as the sauce I used to make but looks authentic and tastes good.

Will re-post if I come across any others.

    Take care, Ronnie

  • Fantastic news Michael, well done you! Hugging

  • Well done so happy for you. Everyone has there own story and fight but well done pat on the back to you take care and enjoy it x

  • Hi Michael My taste buds are a tad shot and havnt really found anything worth shouting about. As mentioned Helmans mayonnaise isn't bad. One of my simple meals is 2 bananas blueberries and 3/4 pint of oat milk blended up and with a few scoops of vanilla ice cream works for me . All the Best Regards Minmax

  • Hi Michael Hollandaise works for me plus mayonnaise preferably without mustard in it. Plus bechamel sauce
