Hi All,
Weekly update for Tim(wanna play guitar) Diagnosed Tonsillar cancer r- right side T2N1M0. HOV +16 last year. Completed 6 x Chemo/Cisplatin + 30 rads on Friday 5/3/21
Week 13 post treatment.
Not a great deal to report. Have done a little more walking this week with 6km walks. Was very tired after first walk, but have completed three walks now and the last one was much easier.
Only one episode of fatigue which sent me to the settee!.
Here’s a roundup of side effect status:
1. TASTE. There is a very small shift on taste. I get flavours of probably half of what I’m eating now but they taste differently than I remember. I’ll give this a progress tick ️ but it’s only a small tick. I still get cardboard and cotton wool on a lot of things.
2.FATIGUE. I feel this is a little better this week and I can only put it down to exercising more which sort of goes against what you would expect.
3.MIND. No change really. But starting to get a little anxious about upcoming MRI and results of.
4.MOUTH. My tongue has not improved with rough skin inside my lips and roof of mouth. I thought I may have oral thrush and I’ve been using Daktarin but it hasn’t made any difference, so it may be just an effect of treatment and I’ll just have sit and wait it out.
5. XEROSTOMIA(dry mouth). This is the most debilitating side effect really for me. I’m positive it effects your taste and is uncomfortable especially first thing in the morning. Again, I’ll have to wait for Mother Nature.
6.NEUROPATHY. This is no worse and I’m gradually getting used to it. Hopefully this’ll resolve in the next few months.
So, overall a begrudging improvement Let’s hope things speed up!
Anyway, as always, comments, advice and tips are most welcome.
Will post next week Best wishes Tim
HivTim forget the daktarin it isn’t effective against our type of oral thrush you’ll need tske it from me I had seversl
bouts . The daktsrin and nystatin are sugar based which don’t help you.

Dry mouth tough one it’s really early days unfortunately it’s the one side effect I still get it’s much much heyyyer but still there it’s a time thjng.

Hi Hazel. Thanks for tip off. I’ll get on it Monday Tim XX
Looks like you’re coming along nicely Tim. I agree that progress cannot be measured in days as at times it seems imperceptible. It is so frustrating, but take heart because you are healing and every now and again you’ll realise you can do, feel or not feel something you could or couldn’t before. That’s how my recovery has gone anyway.
Well done on the walking. I found it not only extremely beneficial physically but also mentally and emotionally too.
Here’s to another week of progress
