  • Feel for you Paul. Coincidentally took one of my girls to the dentist this morning as she's losing her teeth to type one diabetes; we decided to get her the "top of the range" denture which has cost us £1,200, but for a beautiful (in and out) 30-year-old who has no way of affording it herself what else can you do?

I was lucky that I only lost rear molars so my "smile" was retained, not that there's much to smile about just now.

    Hi Mike o

What else could you do, I'd do the same for mine. The dental team were great with me

They made a sheild for my fronts as they are implants but the molars have to go. My daughter said will it not hurt putting that in when your mouth will be all blistered. . Never thought of that. Aaarrgh.,..

  • It's so wrong to be chared so much for dental work Mike, but as you say what else can you do, no wonder they drive around in flashy motors. Like your little verse Paul I can also relate to it , are they being taken out tomorrow?

Its sometimes not easy but its worth it !

  • Hi Paul

    Good luck for tomorrow.

We asked consultant if Ken could have some false teeth at some point and he was told he could in 12 months. So we look forward to that day!

We assume he can have them for free!!

  • from my experience if your teeth are "serious" enough to be done in hospital then you do indeed get it for free though often quite a wait. All a bit unfair but it is what it is.

I too lost a few teeth, (and had a few missing before)  I was made a great top & bottom denture, I enquired at the time about later having implants, and was told no due to radiation, However 4 years on, I have heard some rumours that it could be possible after 5 years ??

  • Hi Paul

Hope the teeth extraction was OK.

You never know, you may get away with not too many blisters in your mouth during treatment - it has been known!

    All the best.
