My husband is in remission for base of tongue T4 N2.. ( he is also in remission for prostate cancer)
He has been having a constant nagging pain, and sharp pain when he breaths in, for some months now, he has just had a ultrasound scan, which showed thickening and fibrosis of the liver, GP is referring to hospitalamd is arranging blood test.
My worry is it maybe a reoccurrence of the cancer, how likely is that?
Thank you

Hi. Recurrence would be in the neck nodes or in the tongue.
Distant metastasis is usually to the lungs but possibly to the liver BUT it’s not that common.
If the doctors suspected cancer wouldn’t they biopsy rather than taking blood for liver function?
Have they said they suspect it’s spread? Has your CNS any info to offer?
We do get stuff that’s not cancer so fingers crossed.

Base of tongue cancer. T2N0M0 6 weeks Radiotherapy finished January 2019
Thank you Beesuit, I really appreciate ypur speedy response
We have only found out today, his GP has said he has put in a referral for the hospital, and arranged blood tests at the surgery to send to the hospital. That's all we know atm, I think because he is remission for both base of tongue cancer and prostate cancer, my mind went straight to cancer of the liver.
Thank ypu again
Xx
