Secondary scc found after biopsy in February, pet scan to find primary, tonsillectomy 2 weeks later no cancer found, TORS scheduled 2 weeks later....cancelled after I suffered nstemi heart attack, stents fitted and prescribed various meds , including blood thinners . Had already discussed peg tube being fitted as initial plan was crt, but with the complications of heart attack I was told NO SURGICAL PROCEDURE ALLOWED due to blood thinners and risk of bleeding so now just about to start 35 radiotherapy sessions on Monday 25th may.
So a big thumbs up to south Yorkshire nhs for getting me through the traumatic few months since Feb 16 when they first introduced me to the terrifying words YOU HAVE CANCER
So from Feb 16 ( my diagnosis day) up until I had the heart attack my world was just devastated I never believed such darkness would ever be part of my life.
Then came the heart attack and something very strange happened to my darkness, IT DISSAPPEARED, although the anxiety has all but gone, my attitude has changed, I'm more positive about life than I have ever been.
So strange as it maybe I'm looking forward to starting radiotherapy on Monday, as I've been hovering around the forum for a few months reading true and honest stories, I feel I am prepared for all the side effects that may come my way including the NG tube when needed and I would like to thank you all for all the posts and replies that I've read regarding other people's experiences and helping me prepare for the next chapter in my journey.
I will post again, especially if I have questions and worries, again I thank you all including Macmillan for the site and I'll see you all on the other side of treatment.
Hi Trucker61 yes it’s strange how our bodies react to I thought my works had ended when Wakefield in my case said the worlds you’ve got cancer. But when I got to Leeds cancer centre and they said they are
looking to cure me I thought ok you do your bit and I’ll do mine. 8 years later I’m still here . I too had 35 radiotherapy sessions not easy but if I can do it am sure you can . Here for advise. Bugger re hearts attack but glad you’re on the mend

Hi Trucker61, welcome to the group from me. You seem to be in a good frame of mind to start your treatment, which will help just take things one day at a time, keep your team up dated with any issues along the way, don't just soldier on. Be assured the treatment returns very high rates of cure, this forum is full of people who are living proof of that. Any worries or questions just ask away, someone will always answer if they can. Great name, I was a trucker for over 30 years. All the best for Monday.
Ray.
Good luck with the treatment, I'm 3 years post chemoradiotherapy for head and neck cancer...now doing well...I had a heart attack last November, fine now...off to Spain next week for a bit of sun....
Life continues...without the treatment we would be in a much worse place.
Michael
