Hi all just a little update.
Ok so update, will be going on the 17th March to have more surgery on the tonsil bed and surrounding area along with removal of neck glands on the left hand side. This is because when they did original surgery the tumor came out in three parts. So they didn’t have clear margins. Although the MRI doesn’t show anything new the surgery is precautionary to insure all cancer cells have been removed. The glands and the parts they take from the tonsil bed will then go to histology to check whether cancer is present or clear. If clear then no more treatment just follow up appts every six weeks then every three month up to 5years. If cancer still there then it would be chemo and radiotherapy. By doing this operation it’s hopeful that we won’t have to do chemo or radiotherapy. We have taken the advice of the surgeon as to the best root to go down and surgery seems to be the best option and shorter recovery time. X
