Hi guys. I lost my job in June and 3 weeks later I was diagnosed with an olfactory neuroblastoma. Subsequent biopsies revealed it is a sino-nasal squamous cell carcinoma.

I am due to have Terry the tumour evicted on 1 Sep followed by radiotherapy etc.

I'm keen to compare notes with anyone on who has also trod/is treading this bumpy road. Especially for positive vibes, diet, nutrition and exercise advice.

Thanks.

  • HI and welcome ,Sorry that you find yourself here ,I am not quite the same as you my tumour was at the base of my tongue but i had chemo radiotherapy for 6 weeks this affected my swallowing im not sure if it will with you but if they tell you it will the main thing is to have a feeding tube fitted .The treatment is tough but doable it took me about 3 months after treatment to start feeling normal again i am now 6 months post treatment and i feel fine apart from a few lingering side affects that i am coping with there are some good people on here so reach out and ask questions we are all in this together.

  • Thanks for the feedback. I am keeping my fingers crossed that as the radiotherapy will be directed at my sinus area, my taste and saliva will mostly be unaffected, although I have been told my mouth and throat may well become very sore. I know someone who also had a sinus cancer who lost an eye, not due to the cancer but due to the radiotherapy. Thankfully though he seems to be otherwise fit and well 6 years after treatment.
