Hi guys. I lost my job in June and 3 weeks later I was diagnosed with an olfactory neuroblastoma. Subsequent biopsies revealed it is a sino-nasal squamous cell carcinoma.
I am due to have Terry the tumour evicted on 1 Sep followed by radiotherapy etc.
I'm keen to compare notes with anyone on who has also trod/is treading this bumpy road. Especially for positive vibes, diet, nutrition and exercise advice.
Thanks.
HI and welcome ,Sorry that you find yourself here ,I am not quite the same as you my tumour was at the base of my tongue but i had chemo radiotherapy for 6 weeks this affected my swallowing im not sure if it will with you but if they tell you it will the main thing is to have a feeding tube fitted .The treatment is tough but doable it took me about 3 months after treatment to start feeling normal again i am now 6 months post treatment and i feel fine apart from a few lingering side affects that i am coping with there are some good people on here so reach out and ask questions we are all in this together.
Thanks for the feedback. I am keeping my fingers crossed that as the radiotherapy will be directed at my sinus area, my taste and saliva will mostly be unaffected, although I have been told my mouth and throat may well become very sore. I know someone who also had a sinus cancer who lost an eye, not due to the cancer but due to the radiotherapy. Thankfully though he seems to be otherwise fit and well 6 years after treatment.
