hpv pos scc oropharynx stage 1

my husband’s dr doesn’t do scans every 3 months. Said because getting scans too often is high risk    So his last scan was April when he got a good report. His final scan will be April of 2026.  I hate this wait.  Does anyone else have scans after treatment ends and then one year later?

    Not me

The general scenario is a PET or MRI around 12 weeks post treatment then that’s it.
Low risk patients can be invited to join a PIFU trial , PetNeck, where they have a scan at a year which when clear transfers them to self monitoring with guaranteed emergency access to their team.

  • Hi, markmac, I only had one scan 12 weeks after my treatment, which showed the treatment had worked.

    Ray.

  • Right. His treatment ended in January and the following April he had 3 mos ck . Now they will repeat in April 2026 for the one year following his post treatment scan.   I may have written the main post wrong

  • No it was clear

You were asking if people have two scans a year apart after treatment end.
You’re in the USA aren’t you? Maybe the protocols are different with you?

  • Actually the reason he’s getting another this 4/2026 is due to him being a past smoker so he’s having ct chest

  • I haven’t had any scans following my surgeries and RT which finished in December last year. I was T1N1M0.

My consultant does the nose scope thingy every 3 months and I asked about any scans but he said I don’t need them. Everyone’s different I guess. If it’s a real concern for you, ask the consultant and express your feeling with them.
