Hello all, I hope you are all doing well. My partner and I are going abroad in a couple of weeks, I was just wondering if anyone has any experience with lymphoedema and flying? Is my partners neck likely to swell up on the flight? Thank you
Hi Dani,
Just wondering if you know where I can get any info on to how to do lymphodema massage, please ? I've developed a lot of swelling under my chin which I didn’t have before and I'm really self conscious about it. (Which is a bit ridiculous at the age of 69, but I've always been vain lol ) The radiothrapists kept telling me it'll go down, but I'm not so sure !
Many thanks, Linda
Hi Linda
PFJTHS had a good link somewhere. I’ve been looking for it but the forum search function is awful. Maybe peter will see I’ve tagged him and oblige.
Lots of info in the internet. Choosing a link run by a hospital trust might be the way to go.

Hi Linda. My McMillan team picked this up in my case, I didn't really notice until they mentioned it. They referred me to local clinic, which happened to be at our local hospice. Mine has gone down mostly now. I'm almost a year post radio/chemo. Ask the team, I'm sure they'll have the information and refer you.
Good luck X
Many thanks, Miclee ! They did say a while ago that they'd try and refer me to a local lymphodema nurse, but I never heard anything. Will have to ask again.
Hi Sunshine
I found that with flying my neck did develop some lymphoedema once again having nearly rid myself of it. It was transient and settled down after a couple of weeks. The hospital were surprised this had happened but I just thought it par for the course. Subsequently I have researched and it appears a neck collar worn whilst flying may well help. That was back last Christmas. Since then I have not flown, but I am keen to try once again and see if I again have a problem. I suspect I won't now I am some 18 months post treatment.
Linda
This was the link recommended to me by my hospital Lymphedema nurse
Self lymphatic drainage (SLD) for head, face and neck lymphoedema lymphedema
I also found a compression neck gaiter worked really well. Again as recommended by the hospital (and you can find discounts on this price)
