Sinus cancer

I have had issues with my right nasal cavity for quite a few months now. I can feeLsomething up there. I have had nose bleeds and sometimes just bloody when I blow my nose. I sometimes get a nasal drip. However the last 4/6 months my jaw has started with some pain. I went to the docs who gave my antibiotics, steroid sprays then pain killers and then anti inflammatory tabs which has not made any difference. He recommended I go to the dentist for xray but because my jaw is ceased up I could not open wide enough for the xray disk to fit it. I was sent for a CBT scan at dentist and it was inconclusive so they have referred me to the Max fax team at the hospital for ct scan. That was 5 weeks ago and said it could be up to 12 weeks for an appt. My jaw is getting worse as is the pain, I cannot eat well as I cannot open mouth enough and the pain is becoming unbearable. I am very concerned this is cancer. My dad has had 2 different types of cancer in the last 2/3 years so there is a history of cancer there. Should I be worried? Should I chase things up? I just want on to know what I’m dealing with and not be in constant pain every day.

  • The symptoms you describe sound so painful and worrying. I would definitely chase things up to try and get an answer about what is going on.It is good that you have been referred to the Max fax team but ring them and explain the issue and ask if they can see you sooner.   When you know what your are dealing with then things will fall into place. Fingers crossed it is not cancer but if it is then you will get loads of support from this forum.

  • Hi - you do sound to have so much going on , getting some answers and action would be high on my agenda - I think many folk on here may share stories of wishing to have acted sooner rather than later - contact your team, or contact macmillon for help and guidance - hopefully you’ll get positive news, but don’t wait !

    good luck - Nige
