Hi, My husband was diagnosed with tonsil cancer in 2023 he had radiothrapy treatment (30 sessions) was told all clear in the November of that year. In the summer of 2024 he started to have breathing difficulties eventually in March this year he was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer it has spread to his lungs, we have been told this is not cureable but can be treated.
Is there anyone in a simillar situation, he has just had his first chemo treatment 4 days hooked up to a drip in a PIC line, we have not really been given any advice as to how he will feel, 3 days after this he is really struggling and we seem to have been left we do not have any idea how long he will have, he is so breathless he cannot move, hes only 50 and was fit and active now he cannot get out of bed. Does the chemo start to relive these symptoms hospital have said they will but I am stuggling to see this.
Suppose I just wanted to see if anyone was in a smilar situation as feel very lonley at the moment.
Hi. Sorry to hear of the position you and your husband find yourselves in. I have no experience of this, but I am sure Dani will be along in a moment with her encyclopedic knowledge of the forum and someone who may have been in a similar position.
As to being lonely I do hope you find some comfort in this forum. We are here to help and support each other, so feel free to just take part in discussions even if they have no direct bearing on your situation, if the virtual company makes things just a little easier.
Hi CMmmjm
I am so sorry to hear about your husbands it must be so very difficult for you both.
Like Peter I don’t have experience of this but I did have restricted breathing due to the blockage in my throat from my T4 cancer on right Tonsil ( which had spread to base of tongue and activity in left side plus several lymph’s).After a while my breathing seemed to improve after having my second overnight Chemotherapy treatments. The Nurse told me it was due to the Chemo.
Do you have a Cancer Specialist Nurse who you can speak to about your concerns/worries. I hope you also have support as these are very challenging times for you both.
This group will do their upmost to support you both there is always someone here to respond . Dani and Hazel always seem to have some knowledge and know of others who have the same or similar issues.
Sending you both strength and a virtual hug.
Debbie
Has immunotherapy been suggested? There have been some good results with this?
Dani
Base of tongue cancer. T2N0M0 6 weeks Radiotherapy finished January 2019
I have a friend who has been diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer and is having treatment with chemo regularly and after 3 lots of treatment he currently feels much better and is able to walk further than before, so the treatment definitely helps for a more comfortable life.
I hope after more treatments your husband turns a corner.
