Sorry I cd not find an answer to this in my research. But why is it that my first bite of some foods taste good and then the subsequent bites the taste disappears and has less flavor?
Peter has an explanation in the last post of this thread

Morning, it seems that some patients, like myself, lose all sense of taste, while others have some sensation left. It might be down to each individual treatment. I've been told it could take 18 months to 2 years to start tasting normal again. After 5 months of recovery I now can taste salt, spicy food and citrus fruits. Not pleasant though. Everything else is bland. I hope your sense comes back faster.

Spot on.
My taste disappeared completely for a number of weeks and I really wasn't happy with it for a whole year.
The frustrating thing that markmac mentions is that for a lot of us the first mouthful or maybe even two has taste only for it to disappear in subsequent mouthfuls. This went on for a bout a month with me.....sp disappointing the first few times it happened
