My husband has an appointment for post treatment pet scan on April 4 and he’s got a follow up with the doctor for his results on April 14 is this normal to wait that long for results I don’t want him to have the pet scan on the fourth and have to wait 10 more days for the results so what is the normal for this sort of thing

  • Yes, that’s about right.
Normally PET/CT is available to the referring clinician in three working days but time constraints always make it longer. Two weeks is fairly normal.
It’s also pretty standard that these results go before an MDT prior to the consultant’s appointment

  • Hi mine was 4 January 2019results 14 January 2019 they had to be discussed at mdt which meets once a week then consultant has his days when he sees patients so not unusual just go with it.

worrying about it won’t change the result. Remember hnc respond well.

No questions too daft to ask.

  • MDT multi disciplinary team which meets usually once a week to discuss cases. Will consist of oncologist surgeons consultants nurses they discuss new cases and results of scans. Is assured explanation. My pre treatment was discussed at mdt then post pet ct scan discussed prior to me getting results.
