Hi all,

awaiting jaw scan result, dread it!  Also I’ve just had breast biopsy, not looking good!

I have had my third big purple bruise appear on the same side as my breast.  First one was  on my breast so being referred for a scan.  Dr doesn’t know what’s causing it, I feel my body is under attack.  Anyone have bruises appear?

  • I still do. No answer from anybody except that I am old and my skin isn’t cushioned with fibrous tissue and fat like a young person's so it’s more fragile.
Best get your haematocrit checked though.

  • I had bloods checked before Christmas, low white blood cells count on first one but okay on second.  My head goes in a tailspin but I can offload here thank goodness

Some medications can cause skin to bruise more easily ...blood thinners and steroid inhalers are a just couple of the culprits....

  • steroid inhalers

Only in high doses. They reduce the amount of collagen supporting the skin…. As does age.

My wife has been on steroid inhalers for asthma for some years...low to medium dose...bruises very easily...sometimes does not even realise it is there ....has bashed into something and not given it a second thought...

  • First bruise on breast, a good while later lump appears and now biopsied at breast clinic and lymph node.  Second bruise left a pea size lump, now my third bruise all on same side!

I am on high dose citalopram, my anxiety would kick in too much otherwise.

Worrying time for you....I hope the medics get to the root cause and find a solution.

I’m on one too and bruise very easily too. I always did though but you’ve given me food for thought.
