Husband starting Proton Beam Therapy

Good afternoon all.

I'm the partner of someone who has salivary gland cancer and is about to start proton beam therapy.  He is extra special as he has Li Fraumeni syndrome as well, making this all extra difficult.

I expect I am going through exactly the same as most people on this forum.  I would like to encourage my man to join these forums but I don't think he will, so I'll be here for him but also searching for any help, recommendations, support that I can give him and myself.

Love to all.

So sorry to read this but it’s so encouraging to find you here supporting him.
Proton is more finely targeted and has no exit beam so there shouldn’t be such bad side effects behind his tumour.
it also means he can have radiotherapy again somewhere else. I hope he doesn’t have to though.
Stay with us and let us know how you both get on. Hugs

  • Hi Often with men it’s their other half’s that pop into the forums on their behalf’s. Best advise  I can give is take it one day at a time time and p b m is more targeted so its possible his side effects may not be as severe as conventional radiotherapy. Plus remember to take a little time out for  yourself if only a  coffee with a friend. My hubby did all my spreadsheets for meds nutrition hydration and did everything around the house.

    best wishes
