Hello everyone, I was diagnosed on Thursday has having a rare form of cancer. The specialist said that it had travelled from the salver gland up to the top of my nose near the opening to-my throat

I was not shocked by the results because I have been poorly for a while now. When i I received the news there was no McMillan nurse available and they couldn’t get hold of one. I was told that yesterday a nurse would contact me, this hasn’t happened ,I have a lot of questions and so does my family, I would be very grateful if someone could get in contact with me and answer some of these questions. Thank you so much

  • Hi AIRam welcome to the group nobody wants to join, we are all here to help when we can. Hopefully someone from your team will contact you soon, if not give them a call. You can ask as many questions on here as you want, someone will always answer if they can, we can't give medical advice, we can tell you of our own experience, which can be helpful. You will feel a lot better about things when you get, your treatment plan. Stay with us, we are all here to help.

  • Hi   Welcome but sorry to see you here. Ray is right, we can't give medical advice here. Do you have your Clinical Nurse Specialist contact details? Your CNS  is part of the team looking after you. They may be a Macmillan nurse but sometimes they are not. Ring them up to chase up the conversation. Sadly we have to do a lot of chasing these days. Put it on the list for Monday.

  • Hi AiRam

Sorry to hear about your recent diagnosis, but welcome to this wonderful group.

Sadly as Dani said some of us have had to be very pro active during our cancer journeys .If you have the Cancer Nurse Specialist number or email contact them as soon as possible.

If not phone the hospital where you have been diagnosed and ask to speak to the ENT consultant/Oncologist who diagnosed you.

I had so many questions and phoned the hospital who gave me  the ENT consultants  secretary , she gave me her email and then passed on my questions I got a response the next day..I emailed her several times before I was transferred to Weston Park Cancer Hospital and an Oncologist who then explained the treatment and plan( which can be very different for everyone).

Best of luck getting the information you need.
