Hi, I have just been in buy granddaughter that she wants to get married in Cyprus next year and wants me to walk her down aisle, trouble is that I cannot take anything by mouth due to Radiotherapy welding my throat muscle together, nothing by mouth since Nov 2020, I have to put everything through my tube water everything. Can I take my feed etc enough for 7 days on a plane and do the airlines charge for this ? Hope someone can help

Hi Neil I did take ensures in board with me to Spain but only enough for a few days as once there I could buy meritiene powder to mix with water. I was able to swallow so didn’t need tube feed. I would ring the airline explain yiu are nil by mouth and depending upon which airline they should be able to explain their policy.
I took on board as part of my 5 kg hand luggage and had to declare to security has they were sealed bottles of 125 mil which exceed the 100 mil allowed. I had to have a letter from GP and copy of my prescription.
Good luck am sure there will be a workaround. Our daughter got married in Cyprus in 2009 it was a smashing day.

Hi Neil
I was recently in Tasmania on holidays for 3 weeks (i live in Australia) and took a few bottles of Fortisip on the plane with me but not enough to get permission through the airlline.I am not completely reliant on them but need them for top up nutrition as my diet is limited. Someone on the forum told me that if you get your supplements through Nutricia they can deliver overseas if you have an address. Might be worth looking into. As I can also manage on Sustagen and Up and Go as substitutes I was able to buy these in Tasmania at the local chemist and supermarkets and that got me through quite well.
Hope you get a satisfactory result.

Hi Neil. Congratulations on your granddaughter's upcoming wedding. I flew from Leeds/Bradford to Majorca whilst PEG dependent. I took bottles of feed for the journey in hand luggage and had a letter from my dietician. They swabbed the bottles and my tube and I had to wait about 10 mins while all the staff passed the bottles around and looked quizzically at me! There were 5 of us going for 1 week and I put my bottles in all the suitcases. I would recommend asking your dietitian to change you to a powder formula as the bulk and weight added up. You could also investigate if you can buy something similar over there or get delivery to a pharmacy over there. I'm sure your dietitian will have advised others and will be able to advise. Have a great time. Liz x
Thank you , when we book the hotel going to see if the hotel will except deliveries of the cortisol then will get them delivered, if not they have sent me a trundle case so I can back full weeks supply, been told 95% of airlines won’t charge for medical supplies, so fingers crossed on that one, will take couple days supply on plane with me as well
