I have been hiding in the shadows watching the fantastic support given to and by everyone on this sight.
I received a diagnosis of SCC of tongue on the right side on 26/10/23. I had surgery last Thursday to remove the part of my tongue containing the cancer and a sentinel node biopsy. Just waiting for pathology results now.
I have just been quietly reading the experience of others and can see some people have had similar procedures. Thank you so much for sharing as it was the single most helpful thing I read before my surgery.
it’s quite a shock to receive a diagnosis of cancer and I found it very difficult to tell anyone for a few weeks apart from my husband, daughter and son. It’s really a huge relief now my wider close social network know and I’ve been surrounded by positive thoughts and care. I feel so fortunate to have them all. Cancer is a lonely experience if you cannot receive the love and support of those closest to you.
Sending love and hugs to everyone on this sight and hoping to be a comfort and support too.
Hi Joli93
Welcome. I’m glad you’ve found support here and you are doing well. All you say is true. Most of us receive this diagnosis out of the blue when we are otherwise healthy.
I hope your improvement continues, your SN is clear and you avoid any further treatment.
All the best
Dani

Hi Joli93 - your journey so far has followed the same path I went down at the start of the year. Hopefully you are making progress with your eating and not in to much discomfort. I pop into the community every once and a while to see if can provide any support (just repayment of the help I received when I was diagnosed). Feel free to read my profile. Best wishes Michael
Hi welcome from me as well. Hopefully you don5 need any further treatment.

Hi Michael thanks I did check your story and it was very encouraging to hear that you needed no follow up. My story is quite similar but the ulcer was in the middle of a patch of lichen planus.
eating is difficult, slow and sore but I knew it would be and is a small price to pay in the long run.
I will feel more settled when I have the pathology results but trying to stay calm for now.
You sound as though you’ve been having a horrible time Debbie I really hope things are beginning to improve x
Yes the waiting.is the worse thing but hopefully your results come back clear.
Whatever cancer throws your way, we’re right there with you.
We’re here to provide physical, financial and emotional support.
