Channel 4 9pm tonight SU2C

Rhod Gilbert’s H&N story -  I feel distanced enough from my own experience to watch this tonight. Very good that he’s getting the HPV  info out to the wider world.

  • Yes. Thanks for the heads up.

    Been bookmarked for some time.

  • Massive thanks to Rhod Gilbert for telling his, and our, cancer stories. Not an easy watch, brought back a lot of bad memories, but good that he put H&N cancer in the spotlight.

  • I watched it, and agree it was not easy to watch. The memories did come flooding back, I'm sure it would have been an eye opener to many, which is a good thing. Thanks to Rhod Gilbert

  • I've put away many things and thankfully he glossed over them, but having shared much of what he felt I could see it in his face, the pain and the despair. Only one moment sent me reeling back in time. After I didn't get the all clear but a hotspot on PET to be investigated I went home and wailed in the bathroom at the unfairness of it all. Overall a good shot at raising awareness

  • Wailing in the bathroom - sounds familiar! That fear of recurrence never goes away, something I struggle with after 3 H&N cancers, and 1 lung. Hopefully I’m done now.

  • I thought it was really good.  He seemed to be middle of the road for side effects, but was good at describing what traumas he was going through.  Difficult to watch knowing that I may be about to restart that journey...

  • I hope not Peter. When do you get results?

  • Surgery tomorrow - I'm currently occupying  my time by sitting in the Trust's Chairman's office interviewing Laughing.  I would expect the results in around 2 weeks, probably followed by scans if needed to see the extent.
