Hello all
I would like to talk to someone and get some information about mouth cancer and some support I am 27 years old and currently in the process of doing tests and bloods etc for a diagnosis
My head is all over the place atm and can't think straight and was directed to this group by another member
Hello Hayley
I know how you feel, it's where I was just over a year ago. Waiting for diagnosis is the pits and it's so hard to stop thinking the worst. Try to keep busy, get some exercise to help you sleep, and stay off Google as there's lots of wrong & scary stuff on there. There are lovely people on here who really helped me, they've been through it and know how it all works, I know they'll respond to you soon
Sending love, wishing you strength and a positive outcome
Catriona

Morning Hayley and welcome to our little community
Macmillan's pages are useful so look here https://www.macmillan.org.uk/cancer-information-and-support/head-and-neck-cancer/mouth-cancer
You can call, email or chat online. Talking to a real person outside the situation can help too https://www.macmillan.org.uk/cancer-information-and-support/get-help
Catriona is spot on about Google. Leave it alone for now.
Most oral cancer is caused by Human Papilloma Virus which is uniquely sensitive to treatment and is curable.
You are very young to be suffering from this cancer so let's hope the test show that you haven't. If you have stick with us, there are lots of helping hands here. In the meantime keep busy, get lots of fresh air, visit your GP if you really can't sleep.
Best wishes
Dani

Hi Hayley
So sorry to hear that you are awaiting diagnosis its an awful time in you life where you don't know what to do think or feel ……sadly the fear and anxiety take hold and then if you add a google search into it makes it worse! Please DONT I did and wish I hadn't as it wasnt helpful to my state of mind . .
Like the lovely people on here have already said keep your brain busy …. get out be active do things that make you happy watch films plan holidays whatever keeps your brain busy …when it starts to wander into negative thoughts get up and do something else …..
Im keeping everything crossed for you Hayley for a positive outcome sending you a virtual hug. which lasts as long as you need it x

PS im recenly diagnosed with SCC Tonsil T4a3NMO HPV+ you can click on my name if you want more details
Sadly a-lot of GPs mine included aren't very good at spotting suspect cancers( I feel its a lack of training and resources issue) but you are now under Guys Hospital who Im sure will be very pro active and supportive.
It will be better handled now your under the hospital… its the waiting not knowing thats awful ….keep yourself busy active and occupied x
Yeah the waiting is driving me mad... just spending time walking the dog and training him etc
Thats great news Hayley you are so lucky I wish I had oneIm just trying to stay active go for walks go to cinema see friends talk about normal things ( with a tiny bit of my crap now and again but generally busy busy busy at noght Im watching anything and everything on TV/ netflix etc going to bed later than ever before but hey ho whatever works for you do it x
If I'm not walking the dog I'm playing on my xbox console to keep me occupied
I was treated at Guy's, they were great and they really know their stuff - you're in good hands now.
