Hi all, saw consultant today, I have T4N2C cancer of throat spreading from tonsil area to my larynx plus moving towards the base of my skull. Appears it has invaded invaded larynx meaning surgery would be to remove larynx, however, it maybe too close to my skull- spine to allow for a sufficient margin around cancer to remove the cancerous cells which would rule out surgery. Consultant having another MDT tomorrow for a decision on surgery.
Also need a PET CTscan to see if cancer has spread to lungs etc. Consultant said whatever the result of MDT meeting treatment is possible. Basically not too positive and I'm reeling at the moment.
Oh so sorry to hear that news. You must be devastated. At least you’ve been told that treatment is possible which is something to hang onto.
These surgeons and oncologists can di wonderful things and there are new drugs giving more hope.
All I can do is give you a virtual hug and cross my fingers for now. Xxx

Hi Shcb I am so sorry that you have had a recent diagnosis and now find that your whole world has been turned upside down.
Im only a couple of months ahead of you (T4aN3MO HPV+] inoperable.
I can honestly say that Hazel and Dani have been in my corner since I joined this site and along with some other lovely people on here are keeping me focused to get through one day at a time.
Its horrific, scary and sadly crap news to hear…… but you can do this …. when your brain takes you to dark places try and distract it with everything and anything !!! whatever helps ive been making different playlists on my phone and got NETFLIX.
Ive just been offered a clinical trial at Sheffield Weston Park as Im T4. There may be trials that you are eligible to join ( Christie in Manchester do lots too and London from what Ive found).
Sending you all the best hopes and a big hug
Debbie

Good evening Shcb, so sorry to hear about your diagnosis, i have just read your post so I'm a bit late in replying, i know they will offer the best solution to try and control the spread, i have had 3 operations with radio and chemo with the last one being the removal of my larynx. Maybe they will operate to remove the larynx and then try radio/chemo to kill off any remaining cancer cells. As the others have mentioned new trials are being tested all the time some with favourable results. I really hope the scans can give a clearer picture and they will offer some sort of treatment, wishing you all the best for today.
Chris
It sounds like you have a very aggressive cancer. We all deal with things differently. But I suggested talking to your Macmillan nurse about how you are feeling. Also check out your nearest Maggie’s centre. They are invaluable for tailored support services.
I wish you luck and love from the universe.
All of us going through cancer can’t do it alone, but it’s incredibly difficult to ask for help sometimes.
