My Daughters father has cancer which has returned on 2020 he was diagnosed with Cancer of the voice box, he had extensive treatment and was old to change his lifestyle(smoking and drinking) He didn't which resulted in our relationship breaking down. I still care for him as he has no1 and recnetly has had a scan which almost confirmed cancer had returned but at a different part of his voice box and he had a biopsy which he is waiting on the results. The weight has fallen off him and he is 7 stone and he is really struggling with his breathing. Can anyone help with what are the next steps or possibly the next steps
Hi aj1973
sorry to hear how things have progressed.
You will really have to wait for his teams decision but I can give you my experience. My first husband had laryngeal cancer for which he had radiotherapy. This failed and his voice box was removed. He made a good recovery and coped very well.
I hope something can be done soon.

Over the last week his health has deteriorated, he isn't eating, sleeping most of the time and gets out of breath when he just walks to the toilet. He had his confirmed results and had his PET scan on Monday, My Daughter had an ambulance to him yesterday as he said he could not breath and said the cancer in his throat would give him these symptoms yet he wasn't like this before but they did not take him to hospital cause they said it would be more of a risk of catching anything and would get a GP to ring him. Nobody rang him..... He has not even been allocated a cancer nurse and I actually thought the first time he had the cancer which was in lockdown that the care he received was bad but there is no excuse now. Personally I don't think he has long left has anyone had any similar experiences
aj1973 he needs to be taken to A&E
Nobody should be left to struggle like this...it's awful. Bypass the ambulance.

Thank you Beesuit, it really is hard especially working fulltime and my daughter working to and it is left upto us to care for him with no support, but then again we never got any the first time. He has a consultant appointment this morning so hopefully they will see how he is deteriorated and do something
Thank heavens he’s being looked after. It gives you a respite as well. You must be absolutely shattered. Have a rest and take care of yourself. He will be ok where he is.
Well done.

PS the surgeons wouldn’t be considering such drastic surgery if they didn’t think he stood a good chance of a good recovery. I hope he surprises even himself.
