Infection 3 months after free flap surgery

Can anyone help with advice? I left hospital on 6th February after neck dissection and hip bone placed in palate. One month later got a reswollen face due to infection that was sorted with antibiotics. Now I have another worse infection over Bank Holiday which has caused massive pain and swelling. I did get to see a Locum Doctor who prescribed me 2 lots of antibiotics. He said they may not work as I am allergic to antibiotics. Even worse he suggested that constant infections might mean a failure of the transplant! Can't get hold of my CNS Nurse or consultant as Bank Holiday, in any case it usually takes days before they get back to me (strikes/ holidays etc).I am now really worried I went through all that pain and trauma and might have to endure it again. Any advice, does anyone know stats or liklihood of failure?  Still have infection and feeling rotten.

  • Oh that’s awful. You need to take things into your own hands and go to the hospital that treated you. It sounds like an emergency. Hugs

  • Hi oh dear why is it always a weekend with a long  bank holiday whrn problems arise. I would do as Dani suggests ho to hospital where you were  treated. Do you have medical secretary name and number ? Fir consultant ? I made sure I had that. The other dr wasn’t very helpful in making that suggestion either that it might have failed that’s so unfair.
Don’t try looking for stars they are usually out of date as well hooe yiu get seen tomorrow.
