So my husband had results today for pet scan. Primary tonsil cancer seems clear but he could not say whether Lymph nodes were clear. Could possibly be inflammation but not sure. Repeat pet scan in 6 months. Anyone else had this ? Husband very down after this as you could expect. Was hoping for better news. Thanks
Hi try not to despair it happens more frequently than you kniw. I will tag Dani the same happened to her 4 years ago Beesuit she asked fir a biopsy instead of waiting.

Hi try not to worry too much as I had the same thing happen 2 lumps were found they left it few months but they was still there so had a biopsy and removal, the results were no cancer found it was inflammation from the radiotherapy, keeping everything crossed for your husband X

His PET scan was 3 months after last RT. His last treatment was the 3/1 and scan was on the 11/4 xx
Hi mine was a further 5 weeks later. It’s quite likely it’s residual inflammation. Do you have a dedicated cancer nurse yiu coujd ring for a chat ? Another6 months in my opinion is too long to wait. Maybe ask if they would biopsy. Quite often the consultants are too quick in their wordings and not reassuring enough. Hugs Hazel d

That’s what I’m hoping that’s it’s just inflammation. Yeah we have a cancer nurse. Will give them a call after the bank holiday. They have finished up now. Xx
Husband very down after this as you could expect.
Thanks RadioactiveRaz
Yes I had a hotspot on my 16 week PET. Like your husband I was very down.
I was offered a biopsy rather than another scan so I found out I was clear much sooner.
They are really common.

Thanks for replying. He’s just so worried which can be expected. I really hope it’s just inflammation from RT. I feel 6 months is a very long time to wait for another PET scan. He also mentioned a hot spot at chest but said the PET Scans pick up everything. Could also be inflammation or Infection. They are referring him to Respiratory for a wee check up . Trying to keep him upbeat and positive but it’s very difficult when I’m terrified myself and I’m a Nurse. It’s just the not knowing that’s so hard.
Hi Annie Mac eat for me to say try to remain positive it’s extremely vests for our treatment to fail in the first instance. Inflammation isn’t unusual just remember how brutal our treatment is. We’re all here for you to vent ask questions or a good moan .
