Hi

T1N2 confirmation

Just had the news I was expecting...busy month ahead, assessments etc.

Dental assessments were a worry....sleepless nights....again

Dundee Dental Hospital were brilliant....explained everything in detail and were open and up front about risks of not having dental work carried out prior to Chemoradiotherapy.

PEG insertion is my next concern.

  • Hi Peter Welcome to our group, we are all here to help each other. It looks like they are on the ball with your treatment plan, which must be very reassuring for you. Don't worry too much about having a PEG fitted, I had a RIG which is a very similar thing. It takes a few days to settle down, after that it will be fine, you will be shown how to flush it out and how to use it. They are great to have, if eating becomes difficult during your treatment, it will also take away the worry of not eating. Any questions or worries, we are all here to help if we can. All the best

    Regards Ray.

  • Hi Peter....it's what you were expecting. I hope you don't have to have too much dental work done. I got away with none then had to have a wisdom tooth out in the line of fire after RT finished....wow! what a worry.

I'll echo Ray. Don't worry about the PEG but make sure they give you some decent pain relief as they tend to take a week or so to settle down.

Keep us in the loop and good luck

  •  Hi Peter I had 4 or 5 back teeth out rather than risk trouble down the line imho . All the Best Regards Marc

  • Agree. Some sort of feeding tube is not only helpful but essential in most people with chemoradiation for throat cancer.
Some folk heroically manage without but those are few.
I had an NG tube in week 4 and it saved my life
