Hello, I have joined because my dad has cancer and lost with questions and help for him x

  • Hello Toots01,

Sorry you have had to join our club but hopefully someone will be able to help you with some answers.  You have not said what cancer your dad has been diagnosed with, it would be helpful if you can and then the right people will respond to you x

  • Hi Dani,  sorry I haven’t been around but I had bad news with my cancer, I was told it had came back in my sinuses and that they couldn’t operate.  They sent me for a Pet Scan and there was no spread anywhere else.  They just gave me 6 months.  I am trying really hard to get my head around it all and if there is no spread anywhere else, why they can’t operate.  I am having a small op next Wednesday 22nd to see if they can make my breathing easier.  I’m just at a total loss at the moment….

  • Oh Trish how can you apologise. I am so sad for you. You’ve been a stalwart of that long running thread. You’ve helped countless people. I’ve sent you a friend request if you fancy a chat. Huge hugs

  • Hi Trish So sorry  for you to hear this news . I think you should talk  with your consultant and get everything straight in your head. Usually there is a good reason why they dont or can't  operate. I really hope they are wrong Please God. XX All the Best Regards Minmax

  • Hi, thank you for that xx

  • Hi Trish, my husband was given similar news, with up to 12 months to live, but we asked about immunotherapy which they have started, he is on nivolumab. He’s had one so far, 2nd one next week. They have told him his biopsy markers are 40, which is positive. If they were between 0 and 20 it means the cancer is unlikely to respond to immunotherapy, so at least 40 gives us a chance.
Also, I discovered you are within your rights on the NHS to ask for a 2nd opinion and it can be from any hospital you want, so why don’t you ask for another opinion regarding surgery, from another hospital. Just google the best hospital for your cancer type.
Also, ask your consultant about cancer trials which may be available.
good luck, and don’t give up.
    Virtual hugs to you x
