Hi….
Anyone completed the pathos trial?
so had surgery removed tonsil and lymph nodes!
starting radiotherapy in 2 weeks!
As you will know if you’re on it or completed it, it’s to trial lower radiation to see if better side effects?
so wondering if anyone did get less side effects?
im a nervous wreck after getting mask made and fitted, so don’t tell me anything bad!!
There are a few. I hope they join in

That’s what the aim is
Do you know how many Grays you’re getting?

Errrrrmmm not sure what grays are?
I think getting 20% less than the normal I think 50 rads would that be it?
Yes that’s it. Hazel and I have a friend who had four weeks treatment. I had six and 65Gy and hazel had seven weeks and 73 I think.
Ask what dose your getting?

Just wanted to know how you are doing.
I've been offered the pathos trial. Had tonsils and some of base of tongue removed 2 weeks ago and that what hell.
Pathos Trial is more surgery to my throat and a neck dissection to remove 2 lymph nodes then radiotherapy. May still need chemo but hopefully not
If I don't take the trial then it's chemoradition but no surgery
I don't want either and how can I chose what's best?
How are you now ? I hope you are doing brilliantly.

Once I’d opted for TORS to remove my tonsil I was invited onto Pathos. I thought what the hell. In for a Penny…. etc etc. After surgery you are ‘randomised’ into one of three groups depending on the outcome of the surgery, I think. The bottom margin of my surgery was ‘a bit tight’ (at 1mm) so I was put with the Full Monty group - ie 67 Grays of RT with 5 concurrent sessions of chemo. HeyHo! The thought of it was much worse than the reality in my case, even though it was tough going.
I’m on pathos and 8 treatments left, iv no regrets about joining the trial.
I had surgery first then radiotherapy no chemo
i wanted surgery coz I wanted it out, now on radiation it’s sore but plenty pain relief on offer x
