Hi I'm new I had Thoat  cancer 8 moths into recovery still having problems with dry mouth and food culo face still very swollen too culo

    • Hi Culo.   I'm new to the group as well but pre-treatment.   Someone will be along shortly who will give you advice.
  • Hello. I’m 9 months post treatment for tonsil & lymph node hpv 16 positive   I too have a permanently dry mouth. I take water wherever I go & find chewing sugar free gum really helps. The best one I find is ACT  (from the States) , some mint flavours are too strong for my mouth so I carry packs of bubblemint, , strawberry, blackcurrant……..I use Xylimelts at night.
I am trying acupuncture for saliva production - have only had 2 sessions so far, but will keep going. I can’t eat anything even slightly spicy. Dry foods need lots of gravy, desserts with cream. Is eating physicallly tricky or does it all taste horrible still? My treatment was surgery to remove both tonsils & part of tongue followed by 6 weeks of chemoradiation   30x radio & 6 x chemo    Is the swelling due to surgery?

  • Hi Culo. We've chatted on New to the Community. Glad you've come to say hello.

    Swelling. Is it lymphoedema?

Have look at my blog. There are two posts on acupuncture. Acupuncture is a holistic treatment. It might be worth exploring it

  • Hi Culo welcome  from me, it sounds like lymphoedema have yiu spoke to your cancer nurse or ent consultant . Some hospitals have lymphoedema nurses that run clinics. Dani’s exercises in her blog have helped many people.
Drymouth that’s a tough one I’m over 4 years post radiotherapy and chemo still have dry mouth at night  I use xyimelts have you tried those available online Amazon and others you pop one in at bedtime. During the day sugar free gum stimulate saliva. There’s also auricular acupuncture I had to pay for sessions but worth asking hospital.
