Hello everyone.

I have just been diagnosed today with mouth cancer. I have a growth over my front teeth which is cancer. I have been told I am lucky as its an easy place to operate on but will still need part of my jaw removing and reconstructive.

Just wanted to say hello really

  • Hello sorry to hear this, it is a lot to take in at the start. It is good you have found the forum community, they are such a great group of people who have been and are going through what you are experiencing. The group is a great source of advice and support so do check in and ask questions. I am on here nearly everyday with a new question, the advice you will receive will be invaluable. Best wishes Karen

  • Hi Mouthy

Welcome to the forum and sorry to hear about your diagnosis.

It is a shock when you are diagnosed with cancer out of the blue but your medical team will do their very best for you and have loads of experience and you will get plenty of great advice on this forum.

Over time I have had several surgeries for cancer of the jaw and had 2 lots of radiotherapy and am currently waiting on reconstructive surgery which hopefully is happening in February.

My medical team are amazing and thanks to them I am doing well and living my life fairly normally with one or two adjustments. In fact I am planning a holiday with my husband to Tasmania after my reconstructive surgery. (I live in Australia)

What surgery are you going to have, is it a maxillectomy?

If there is anything I can help you with just ask.

Sending you best wishes for your surgery.

    Lyn
