Mask-Fitting Day

Hello all,

My appointment to have my mask fitted is today, and I am also having another CT scan. I am hoping that treatment will start soon. It's been 15 days since diagnosis (stage 2 tonsil cancer pv 16) so things are moving quickly, but, to me, this pretreatment time is dragging terribly.

Most days I feel alright about it all, but can have sudden dives of depression. They don't last too long, though. At the back of my mind is that after treatment this thing will return.

  • Hi Steve. We all worry about recurrence but it does get better. The Stats ( useful this time) are over 85% at five years for HPV driven cancer. I’m at nearly 4 and pretty good.

  • Hi. Re mask ask fir eye holes cutting in they really can help. As fir treatment coming back put that out if your head. Head and neck cancers HPV especially respond exceedingly well to treatment. With a 5 year sucess rate of around 85% orophrangeal cancers have an excellent response. Best advise concentrate on the next few weeks. You’ll get there we will all help as much as we can I am just over 4 years tonsil cancer T2N2NM happily living life.

  • Hi Steve, you will be fine today, just look at it as another step towards getting better. As for the worry of it coming back, that is normal we all worry about that, but the worry gets less over time. Like the others have said, this has a good cure rate.Any question just ask away on here, someone will always help, if they can. All the best.

    Regards Ray.

  • I think this is entirely natural, hope today goes well and you feel one step closer to getting your treatment started. Karen
