Hello,
I have been diagnosed with T2 HP16 tonsil cancer. Yesterday I had my dental assessment and I got off lightly and only had one tooth removed from the rear of my mouth. I have a meeting on the 8 December with the dietitian and others, so I assume my mask fitting will be between now and then.
I am trying to keep busy, I walk everyday, I lift some light weights. I have bought a book on how to sketch and draw, and I get out with my camera. There are days when I barely think about the cancer. I'm treating this pretreatment phase as a time to get mentally and physically prepared for the tougher times ahead.
My attitude to work was that I would never 'go sick' just for a day off because I might need it. Well look now. Thankfully I have 19 weeks full pay and 13 weeks half pay, so I might make it through financially stable.
For now it's preparation time.

Good attitude. Everything is out of your control now but you’ve got to the business end and you’ll be through in no time. Don’t forget to get your prescription exemption from your GP and I think you get free parking at hospital but I’m not sure.
A phased return to work is the ideal and hopefully your employers will cooperate. Might be worth telling them that before you start.
