Hi, I have started immunotherapy treatment for metastatic mucinous SCC and wonder if anyone else is going through this. My situation is complicated by the fact I was originally treated as a CUP ( cancer of unknown primary) but after many scans and biopsies it was decided I has SCC. Along the way they discovered I have prostate cancer as well. Hence I am being treated for both and side effects are not easily attributed to one treatment or the other.
It took ages to come up with a definitive diagnosis and even that is a bit sketchy. I first saw a doctor in early Nov 21 who tried various things but didn't know what it was. I was referred to a dermatologist in Jan 22 who wrongly diagnosed BCC and I was referred for follow up in July22. By April the top of my scalp was covered in lesions and biopsies taken. 2 weeks later I had a major excision on my scalp with skin graft. The donor area was 14x8 cm. That's all healed well and original biopsies showed clear margins. However, more lesions are now growing on the scalp and I have lymph nodes with SCC identified.
I have had 2 cimiplimab infusions. Basically I feel OK. I have had a number of minor side eeffects but nothing debilitating. I get tired and that may be the Prostate cancer hormone treatment. I am overly self aware of my health and have times of anxiety. I can't tell if that's due to the overall situation ( I suspect this) or if it's a side effect of one of the treatments. I'm looking forward to the next scan after round 4 to see if things are working.
Has anyone got anything to share which will help me bring some perspective? Thanks in advance.
Hi Milko. Welcome to the Community.
I can't recall anybody else with your condition so I did a search first through the Skin Cancer Group and then through the whole community. I'm afraid I drew a blank.
We have had a few forum members on Cemiplimab but they haven't posted for some time.
Type Cemiplimab into the search at the top of the page. There are some posts there
I can only hope somebody who doesn't actually post but sees this can help.
