I found a lump in neck about a year ago but thought it was infection but i didnt get sick. Thought it might be pulled muscle from old pillow so got new ones and gave it tome to heal. It didnt so went to gp and he found a lump on other side too. Waited to see ent who cancelled appointment so had to wait six months. In this time i realised i had other symptoms night sweats, headaches, a slight cough, drained of energy despite rest, trouble swallowing. Day before saw ent i found a third lump at clavicle. These dont hurt but are uncomfy. Ent was useless, spent more time looking in my throat despite lumps being outside of neck. I showed him where lumps were but he felt around them. Said neck feels symmetrical despite two lumps on one side and one on other. My symptoms didnt raise any alarms but ordered ultrasound. Cough got worse and im bringing up fluid from lungs daily. Ultrasound showed lots of lumps which got measured but wont get results for weeks. Blood tests are normal. Found two more lumps so five now, three r close to left clavicle one higher up left side of neck and one right side higher up. Cancer is a big killer in my family so im very worried and dont know what to do next. I just know something isnt right i feel it.
Any way, hello all
Hi Dragoneye ( cool name)
Your ENT was spot on. Enlarged neck lymph nodes are the most common presentation of oropharyngeal cancer.
Are you scheduled for a biopsy? That will be the definitive test and give you a diagnosis

Ent said nothing concerning. No plans for anything just waiting on ultrasound results.
Then it sounds like you’re looking at something else.
it’s not right that you’re kept in the dark over what they might suspect. I would get back to them and insist they explain

Went back to gp and he was a quack. Ignored what i was telling him and kept trying to push me to use a steroid nasal spray for my nose despite me telling him ive tried it and had nasal issues for 15 yrs and had surgery six years ago, plus thats not why i was there. He reluctantly ordered an x-ray of lungs but thats it. According to their own nhs guidelines i have all but one warning sign of lymphoma but they dont want to hear it. Even after telling them 11 members of my family died from cancer two close members symptoms started just like mine. Im terrified but no where to turn. Got xray tomorrow so fingers crossed there are no shadows in lungs

Are you Googling your symptoms?
Just beware. A man can diagnose himself pregnant with Google. I'm not trying to be flippant here, just realistic.Wait for your ultrasound results. At least they will be able to tell if your neck lumps are likely to be cancerous lymph nodes.
Have you had Covid by any chance?

No covid and i have a biomedical degree and i helped my mum and aunt through their cancer. So lots of meetings with drs to learn details and understanding what they were going through.
Please accept my apologies for presuming and how I replied.
Then the only thing you can do is press for more investigation going private if you need to. A private diagnosis is easily transferred to NHS for treatment

Bloods r ok and ultrasound results show a lot of reactive lymph nodes in neck but no sign of any infection. Dr doesnt think its cancer so isnt taking things further. Still waiting for xray of lungs to come back. I cant go on like this, i know something isnt right but if dr wont do any more im just to live with lumps in my neck causing discomfort and trouble swallowing and coughing up fluid from lungs daily. I dont know what else i can do.
Hi Dragonfly
well in my book reactive nodes are as a result of coping with infection. So something is amiss
Is a second opinion possible?
At least get a chest X-ray or CT privately. They are not hugely expensive and you’ll get a result in a matter of days.

The only infection ive had was three days of light sniffles 4 months ago. Still waiting for my chest xray results. Cant afford any private medical care. So far ive seen three gps, an ent, hematology have looked at blood work. Ultrasound and xray. Im stuck in limbo not knowing.
