Just completed 1st chemo andcfuvecsessions of RT, the first today without any sedative!.
This morning I felt so bad I could barely stand up, not sure how I got to RT. Inside of mouth stuck together, water tasted like pond slime, knives in my throat, the pain around this RIG practically incapacitated me.
Had RT, bloodctest, saw a Dr who thinks it may be infection around RIG entry, been swabbed and put on OMorphine until Chemo on Monday. Certainly a nasty day, food taste vile, anybody got any suggestions that might help??? Supposed to be seeing lady from Nutrica (RIG) people 'sometime this week! Had it put in the the 11th August, early days????? Don't know.
Any advice great fully received!!!!
Oh Alfie that sounds rubbish. Don’t worry about how well anybody else has done. This is about you. If food is difficult then it’s time to use the RIG. If you haven’t seen Nutricia yet you can at least get Fortisips from the hospital. Your CNS or one of the other nurses can show you how to put it in. Make sure your pain relief is adequate and take it by the clock. That’s morphine every four hours. Make sure you take laxative with it. Stuff like this always happens at weekends. Hang on in there and make sure your chemo and RT team know exactly how you are doing.

Thank you. It's certainly pants, hopefully a one off!!!!
Hi Alfie can’t add much to what Dani has already said , just remeber with the morphine you need a laxative like movicol or laxido they are stool softener s. Once I started in the painkillers I took one sachet of laxiodo every day it became part of my routine. The foul taste try rinsing mouth out with salt and baking powder solution it may help 1 teaspoon salt 1/2 baking powder in Luke warm water one litre.
